I'm Speaking at the AGLCA Spring Rendezvous — Here's What I'm Sharing
The AGLCA Spring Rendezvous kicks off in Norfolk, Virginia, on May 2nd, and this year, I get to be part of it in a new way.
I'm presenting two sessions this year, and I want to tell you about both. Whether you're in the room or watching from the anchorage, there's something coming out of this week that's for you.
A little about the Rendezvous, if you haven't been.
The AGLCA Spring Rendezvous is one of the best gatherings in the Looper world. It brings together dreamers who are still in the planning phase, active Loopers mid-journey, and Gold Loopers who've crossed their wake — all in one place, for a few days of seminars, dock walks, and the kind of conversations you can only have with people who get it.
Norfolk is a fantastic host city for it. It's right at the start of the Chesapeake, which means many Loopers are arriving by boat, timing their spring northbound passage to include the event. If you've never been to a rendezvous and you're anywhere near the Chesapeake this time of year, it's worth serious consideration.
And if you're not a member yet, we have a discount code on our ambassador page.
Session one: Tell Your Story — Choose Your Platform.
This is the session I've been building toward for a while, and honestly, the one that's closest to my heart.
Here's the truth about documenting a big adventure: most of us start with the best intentions and way too many platforms. A blog. An Instagram. A Facebook page. A YouTube channel. Maybe a journal. Maybe a newsletter. All of them sort of active, none of them really working, the whole thing feeling vaguely guilty and overwhelming.
I've lived this. I launched all of it when we started our Loop: blog, social accounts, video, stickers, kids' journals, my own journal, and professional camera gear. Almost none of it happened consistently. And I spent a lot of the trip feeling behind on telling the story.
This session is about doing it differently. Not doing more… doing less, on purpose, on the right platform for how you actually want to tell your story.
We'll talk about what the main platforms are really good for, how to figure out which one fits your style and your goals, and how to start simply enough that you'll actually stick with it. The session is designed for Loopers who want to document their adventure without it becoming a second job.
If you're at the Rendezvous, this one is on May 3rd. Come find me.
Session two: Anchoring Made Simple.
This one is more tactical and equally important.
Anchoring is one of those skills that looks simple from the outside and feels genuinely stressful until you've done it enough times that your body knows what to do. The question of where to drop the hook, how much scope to let out, how to know if you're dragging, what to do if you are… these are the things that keep new Loopers up at night. Literally.
I've taught this seminar before, and the feedback is always the same: people wish they'd had this conversation earlier. Not because the information is hard to find, but because having it laid out clearly — with the why behind the what — changes how it all lands.
We'll cover how to read an anchorage, scope ratios, anchor watch, and what to do when conditions change overnight. The goal is that you leave feeling genuinely confident about anchoring, not just less scared of it.
This session is on May 4th.
What's coming on May 5th, whether you're in Norfolk or not.
The day the Rendezvous wraps, I'm releasing the Tell Your Story course inside the Loop Life Academy Skool community.
Everything from the May 3rd session (and more) available on demand, at your own pace, whenever you're ready to figure out how you want to tell your story.
If you're already a member of the community, it'll be waiting for you. If you're not yet a member, now is actually a good time to join — the founding rate goes up after the Rendezvous.
See you in Norfolk.
If you're going to be at the Rendezvous (on the water, at the marina, or in the seminar rooms) come say hello. I'd genuinely love to meet you.
And if you're not there this year, stay tuned. Everything from this week is going to ripple outward in the form of new content, new courses, and new conversations in the community.
The story doesn't stay in Norfolk.
